Foundation Program FAQ

Q. Who can apply?

A. The Apple Foundation Program @ POSTECH welcomes all applicants 16+ from any background; coding skills are not required. Applicants from tech, design, or other expertise are welcome to apply. When completing the program, the certificate of completion will be provided.

Q. Can non-majors also apply?

A. Yes, the foundation program aims to understand the overall process of iOS app development and actively solve problems. Therefore, it is designed to be easy for anyone interested in iOS app development to understand.

Q. Is it possible to join the academy as a full-time employee/student?

A. Yes, regardless of your current affiliation and status, if you can devote your regular session time (3–4 hours) during the foundation program, you can study or work at the same time.

Q. Can foreigners also apply?

A. Applicants aged 16 or above, regardless of nationality, can apply. However, proficiency in Korean is essential because most sessions are conducted in Korean, and visa support is unavailable.

Q. What is the recruitment process?

A. If you submit an online application, we will review the documents and let you know the final result by email. Additional interviews may take place if necessary.

Q. What are the selection criteria?

A. You can show your potential in your own way, including the willingness to learn in the foundation program, as well as the collaboration skills, spirit, and passion for challenge.

Q. What is the pedagogical methodology?

A. Based on challenge-based learning (CBL), the Foundation Program aims to let the learners experience the overall process of iOS app development, such as tech, creativity, and entrepreneurship, in the Apple ecosystem. In this process, the team or individual challenges to identify problems that arise in society by themselves and solve them. It is entirely up to individuals and teams to set up problems to solve at this time.

Q. Is the program conducted in Korean?

A. The program is mainly in Korean, however, all Apple-provided learning materials are in English.

Q. Is online participation possible outside of Pohang, Korea?

A. In principle, the program is conducted face-to-face, and during the program period, all learners must attend on-site in Pohang, Republic of Korea.

Q. How much does the program cost?

A. This program operates on a 100% full scholarship system.

Q. Do I need to prepare an invdividual Apple device?

A. The required Apple devices e.g. MacBook, iPhone, etc. will be loaned to all learners during the program period. Therefore, there is no need to purchase them individually.

Q. What are the beneficiaries of the stipend and the amount?

A. Since the Foundation program is a 4–6 week short-term course, it does not qualify for a monthly stipend.
