Apple to Open Apple Developer Academy and Manufacturing R&D Support Center in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do in 2022

The Apple Developer Academy and Apple's first manufacturing R&D support center are part of Apple's major new investment to support Korean developers, small businesses and students.

The Apple Developer Academy and Manufacturing R&D Support Center, which will open in Pohang in 2022, are part of Apple's major investment in Korea to strengthen regional economic development and innovation.

Apple today announced that it will open Korea's first Apple Developer Academy and Apple's first manufacturing R&D support center next year in partnership with Gyeongsangbuk-do, Pohang-si, and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH). This announcement builds on Apple's long history of contributing to hundreds of thousands of jobs in Korea. The Apple Developer Academy and Manufacturing R&D Support Center also include support for public education as part of Apple's major investment in strengthening regional economic development and innovation.

The Apple Developer Academy and Manufacturing R&D Support Center, which will open at POSTECH in Pohang in 2022, will provide cutting-edge educational programs to nurture future talent.
Apple Developer Academy was created to help entrepreneurs, developers, and designers aspiring to find and create jobs in the iOS app ecosystem, and the iOS app ecosystem contributes to creating more than 200,000 jobs in Korea. The 9-month Apple Developer Academy program is provided free of charge, and any Korean resident over the age of 19 can apply, regardless of education or coding experience. Applications for the program will be accepted within a few months.
Apple's Manufacturing R&D Support Center will support cutting-edge training on the latest smart and green technologies for manufacturing-focused SMEs across the country. The manufacturing R&D support center, which Apple introduced to Korea for the first time in the world, provides opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to upgrade their technologies, processes and products by directly connecting Apple's experts and equipment to domestic manufacturing-oriented SMEs.
And as part of its long-standing commitment to education, an important vehicle for community development and economic empowerment, Apple is partnering with schools and local school districts across the country to deliver thousands of iPads to schools and low-income families across the country, with ongoing expert support.
